Abdul Matin Sheikh Maheen

I am an entrepreneur and researcher with a deep commitment to enhancing education through technology. My journey in educational innovation began when I became the first graduate from my village to attend the prestigious University of Dhaka in Bangladesh. This experience gave me firsthand insight into the transformative power of education, especially for students from underserved communities.
Another transformative opportunity emerged in my life when I received the MEXT Scholarship to pursue my Masters in international public policy at the Institute of Innovation Research (IIR), Hitotsubashi University, Tokyo. This experience broadened my understanding of educational policy and innovation on a global scale.
My entrepreneurial journey led to founding BacBon Ltd., which has grown to become Bangladesh’s leading Ed-Tech company. Today, we employ around 200 dedicated professionals working to revolutionise the country’s education sector through digital education, software development, smart classroom technology, and data-driven research. In 2018, I expanded our impact by establishing two online platforms: BacBon School (e-learning & content sharing platform) and BacBon Tutors (Tuition Matching Platform), focusing on providing quality learning experiences for underprivileged students from K8-K12.
Throughout my career, I have collaborated with major development partners, serving as a national consultant for organizations including the World Bank, ADB, UNDP, and JICA. These roles have given me valuable insights into educational transformation initiatives at a national and international level.
My work has earned international recognition through various awards, including the AES International Award (2024), Dell Social Innovation Challenge Award (2012), TAKEDA Young Entrepreneurship Award (2014), and YEA Business Plan Award (2013). Additionally, BacBon Ltd. was recognized as the Best outsourcing company in Bangladesh for 2020 and 2021 by BASIS.
