Dr. Reazul Islam
Biography
Dr. Reazul Islam is a Senior Lecturer at the School of Business and Social Sciences, Albukhary International University (AIU), Malaysia. He holds a PhD in Islamic Microfinance and an MBA in Finance from the University of Malaya, Malaysia. He is also affiliated with the Department of Doctoral Studies at Narxoz University, Kazakhstan, and serves as a Research Fellow at INTI International University, Malaysia. Until December 2024, he was the Editor-in-Chief of the Albukhary Social Business Journal.
Dr. Islam’s research expertise lies in Islamic and conventional microfinance, social business, multidimensional child poverty, ageing society, digitalisation of micro-enterprises, and the resilience of social enterprises to crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic. His work has been recognised through several awards, including a prestigious fellowship from the National Central University, Taiwan, and a Presidential (Vice Chancellor) Award from Narxoz University, Kazakhstan.
He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, presented at international conferences, and contributed opinion pieces to newspapers and magazines. His scholarship reflects a strong commitment to the principles of Social Business, championed by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, particularly in addressing poverty, unemployment, and environmental sustainability.
