Biography
Dr. Sanmei Chen is an associate professor of global health nursing at Hiroshima university. She is licensed nurse in both China and Japan and a Certified Epidemiologist by the Japan Epidemiological Association. She holds a Bachelor of Medicine in Nursing Science and a PhD in Behavior and Health Sciences. Her research bridges global health, nutrition and physical activity epidemiology, and disease prevention, with a current focus on maternal and child health. Presently she is leading research on maternal and child nutrition education in Tanzania using digital tools, and HIV prevention among pregnant women in Malawi. Her work integrates epidemiological methods—from cohort studies and risk prediction modeling to community-based interventions and implementation research. Her work is driven by a passion for health equity and improving outcomes in vulnerable populations across diverse settings.
