Dr. Mahfuzur Rahman

Prof. Dr. Md. Mahfuzur Rahman serves as the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology at Eastern University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. With over 27 years of experience, he has excelled in academia, research, and industry, both nationally and internationally. Dr. Rahman earned his Ph.D. in Information Engineering from Hiroshima University, Japan, in 2006, and subsequently worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the National Institute of Informatics (NII), Tokyo. He also served as a consultant at Totan Information Technology Co. Ltd., Tokyo, where he specialized in Market Data Management and Telecom Expense Management solutions. Before joining Eastern University, Dr. Rahman was a faculty member at Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology. His academic leadership is marked by the expansion of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, curriculum development, and fostering research collaborations. He has been recognized with multiple scholarships, including the Japanese Government Monbusho Scholarship and the People’s Republic of China Government Scholarship. Dr. Rahman is fluent in Bengali, English, Chinese (Mandarin), and Japanese. His research contributions include numerous publications on e-learning, cryptography, and information security. His extensive expertise makes him a sought-after speaker and session chair for international conferences, including Social Tech 2024.
