Biography

Dr. Kako had nursing education at Kobe City College of Nursing, and four year of clinical work experience at medical and neurosurgical ward in Kobe Nishi Medical Centre in Japan. With her great curiosity studying in English, she gained from the Bachelor of Nursing (bridging course to be a Registered Nurse in Australia) to doctoral degree at Flinders University, South Australia. Since she had experience in the 1994 earthquake in Kobe during her clinical work in her hometown, her interest had been with disaster nursing and health. Through her other work experience such as working as a consultant in WHO Kobe Centre and community voluntary work after the earthquake as a nurse, she strongly believes the importance of communication to plan from non-disaster period with various sectors to create the resilient community. Dr. Kako has experience in collaborating internationally working with the countries such as Australia, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Türkiye, USA and many others. She also works with the domestic local organizations such as community disaster risk reduction officers and volunteers. The recent work completed is to evaluate the public health care system by utilizing the scorecard.
