Dr. Yuichi Kodaira

He specializes in maternal and neonatal medicine, with nearly 20 years of experience in perinatal care, particularly in resource-limited settings in Central America and Sub-Saharan Africa. He founded the Initiative for Global Perinatal Care (IGPC: a Japan based NGO) and established a maternal and children’s hospital in a remote area of Sierra Leone in 2022. Currently, he works as a gynecologist and obstetrician for the Keijyu Healthcare System, the only hospital serving mothers and children in northern Japan, which was devastated by an earthquake in January 2024.
